FRANKE DESIGN MEETINGS
The winners of the 2021 Pritzker Prize were recently announced. French architects, guided by the principle of “reusing through transformation, not destruction,” were deemed worthy of the award. With this trend, which began after Aravena, the issue of reuse and architecture’s role in creating value have come to the forefront, especially in countries in need, given the current state of architecture. We have gone through a process that reminded the entire world that this concern is not unfounded—and we continue to do so. From the macro to the micro scale, it has become clear in every household that people need flexible, sustainable spaces that are intertwined with nature. On the other hand, advancing technology and all the realities of the digital world have taken architecture to new heights and continue to do so. What are the value priorities in architecture, and are they changing as this vast chasm widens day by day and the horizon recedes further and further?
